SUMMIT TOWNSHIP – A 29-year-old Ludington man was arrested Sunday, Aug. 18, shortly after 3 a.m. on Meisenheimer Road and Pere Marquette Highway after allegedly punching a patrol car while yelling and swearing at a deputy, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The man was arrested on charges of disorderly person and two counts of resisting and opposing police after deputies were called to the area for a reported traffic accident.

“As a deputy arrived, the suspect ran out of a field towards a responding patrol car and began punching the patrol car while yelling and swearing at the deputy,” Cole said. “The suspect refused the deputies’ orders to step back from the patrol car and attempted to resist two deputies who attempted to take him into custody. No crash was found, and the suspect blew a .21 BAC (blood alcohol content).”
