Western Michigan Fair bicycle winners.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Brandon Austin and Leyna Martz were the winners of the Western Michigan Fair bicycle give-a-way today, during the fair’s Kids’ Day activities. The fair continues through Thursday:

  • Thursday, Aug. 8

– Veterans and Senior Citizens admitted free.

– Fair entrance $3 per person, children ages 5 and under free.

– Noon to 2 p.m.: Special Kids’ Day.

– 3 p.m.: Midway opens.

– 3 to 11 p.m.: Read for rides: In cooperation with Mason County District Library. As elementary children read 10 books, they are able to earn tickets for free rides at the fair. Forms are available at either the Ludington or Scottville library locations. Urka Auto Experts will be providing FREE books for Read for Rides participants.

3 p.m.: Livestock Auction featuring half-time tribute to area veterans.

7 p.m.: Grandstand event: Western Michigan Old Engine Club garden tractor pull. Free admission to fairgoers.

11 p.m.: Midway closes.

  • Friday, Aug. 9

– 1 p.m.: Gates open.

– 3 p.m.: Midway opens.

– 5 p.m.: Pedal Pull for kids at show barn

– 7 p.m.: Grandstand event: SJO Supercross, $10 admission, $13 pit passes.

– 11 p.m.: Midway closes.

  • Saturday, Aug. 10

– 8:30 a.m.: Stampede 5K fun run/walk

– 9 a.m.: Barn Brawl youth wrestling tournament

– 10 a.m.: Gates open

– Noon: Midway opens, ride wristbands, $22

– 3 p.m.: Hay bale toss

– 6:30 p.m.: Grandstand event: Night of Destruction Demolition Derby, $15 admission, $20 pit passes.

– 11 p.m., midway closes.
