Severe thunderstorm advisory issued.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm advisory for western lower Michigan including Mason County. Thunderstorms with frequent lightning, heavy rain, and wind gusts over 40 mph are moving southeast off Lake Michigan into the Ludington area by 8 p.m.

The storms will continue to spread southeast into the early nighttime hours but should stay mostly north of I-96 as they gradually weaken. Local areas effected include Mason and Oceana counties.
