Man injured in moped crash identified.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office has identified the moped operator involved in a crash with a minivan on Friday, July 26 at the intersection of US 10/31 and Stiles Road.

Robert Johnson, Jr. 56, of Scottville received serious injuries as a result of the crash that occurred at 10:30 a.m. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, Johnson was traveling east on US 10/31 and disregarded the red traffic light. As a result, he was broadsided by a Dodge minivan whose driver was attempting to make a left hand turn west onto the highway from South Stiles Road.

Johnson was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Emergency units responded included MCSO, Scottville Fire Dept., Custer Fire Dept., and Life EMS.
