LUDINGTON — A 32-year-old Ludington man pleaded guilty in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, July 23, to charges of attempted first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) and third-degree CSC.

Remington John-Paul Greiner, of 773 N. Stiles Rd., Amber Townhip, faces a sentence of up to one year in jail and probation, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola. Greiner will have to register as a sex offender and will be placed on electronic monitoring until the victim, who is currently 15-years-old, turns 18.

Greiner was initially facing up to life in prison with original charges of first-degree CSC and third-degree CSC. First-degree CSC carries a lifetime maximum.

The attempted CSC charges are punishable by up to five years in prison.

Greiner admitted Tuesday, during questioning by Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola, that he engaged in a “multiple number of incidents” Dec. 31, 2018 to March 1, 2019 with the victim who was a member of the same household.

“He was a house guest of a family and was known to the alleged victim,” previously stated Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett.

Greiner admitted Tuesday to engaging in sex with the child.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 26 at 2:15 p.m.
