Nashville duo will bring Celtic Praise to Waterfront Worship on Aug. 10.

LUDINGTON — The free 2019 Waterfront Worship concert, Celtic Praise, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10 beginning at 6 p.m. at Waterfront Park.

The concert will feature Nashville based singer/songwriter/musicians Zach and Maggie White, who will celebrate ancient and modern Celtic hymns as well as the a unique take on bluegrass, folk rock and classical music. Accompanying the Whites are local musicians Edgar Struble and Jason Chapel. Chapel, who is the worship leader of Mason County Reformed Church, will also be opening this year’s concert.

“Our vision with the Waterfront Worship events is to bring great songwriters to Mason County, to create, collaborate, and be generous with their talents”, said Verne Kenney, producer of the Waterfront Worship events. “In addition, we want to connect nationally known songwriters with worship leaders throughout west Michigan to help enhance the life of the local church. Zach and Maggie are a great addition to our vision, and we’re thrilled to bring them to west Michigan.”

The concert is free to the public but donations will be accepted to assist in the work of HELP Ministry.

Zach and Maggie White are a Nashville based music duo that blends creative songwriting with instrumental complexity to create an exciting musical experience. Both have spent over a decade backing artists of many styles touring separately and together with bands including the Peter Mayer Group (folk rock), RUNA (Celtic), and Keith and Kristyn Getty (Irish-modern hymns). The last of which has given them the opportunity to perform at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Kennedy Center, and the Grand Ole Opry. Taking these years of experience Zach and Maggie have embarked on this new project to explore their own musical ideas blending their studies in bluegrass, Celtic, and classical music with their love of songwriters like Randy Newman, Jackson Browne, Tom Waits, and the Mamas and Papas. Their rhetorical songwriting and instrumental ability inspire a thought provoking, laugh inducing, awe inspiring musical evening.

Waterfront Worship is a non-denominational group of residents of Mason County who love great Christian songs.  It is their vision that through retreats, residencies, workshops, and concerts, Mason County will become a place that inspires Christian songwriters to create great songs that serve the Church.
