Wade Buffenbarger

Obituary: Wade Buffenbarger, 57, Scottville.

Wade Alan Buffenbarger, 57, of Scottville, passed away on June 24, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Wade was born on October 3, 1961 at Paulina Stearns Hospital in Ludington, the son of Roger and Janet Buffenbarger.  He graduated from Mason County Central High School with the class of 1980. After graduation, Wade held a few different jobs, from farm work, automotive work, working in retail and sales, to cutting meat at his most recent job at Sanders Meats. He loved cutting meat and being able to please the customer with his abilities. Wade worked at Sanders Meats for 19 years before he had to retire due to his arthritis and couldn’t hold the knives anymore.

Wade and Chandrea “Channie” Pullen were married in September of 1993, celebrating almost 26 years together. Wade had the kindest, biggest, most generous and loving heart. He would give you his last dollar and the shirt off of his back to help someone in need and he did it with so much pride, he would just glow when he could help anyone. Even when he was in a lot of pain he still offered to help in any way he could.

Wade was a member of the Western Michigan Old Engine Club. He loved going to the tractor shows and helped as a groundskeeper at the old engine grounds at Riverside Park in Scottville for awhile, until he was no longer able to. He loved the old tractors and he and his brother Mike were in the process of restoring and rebuilding their grandpa’s 1949 FarmAll Cub together. Wade enjoyed old car shows and watching movies with his wife, gardening, playing cards, tinkering in the garage (his second home) and loved to do projects-figuring out how to make a special tool or something he needed for the house. One thing Wade never lost was his sense of humor and would always manage to put a smile on someone’s face no matter how much pain he was in.

Wade is survived by his wife, Channie; siblings, Mike (Tina) Buffenbarger, Stacy (Gregg) Rahn, and Jerry (Carol) Buffenbarger; sister-in-law, Kathie (Jim) Cory; brother-in-law Duane “Buck” Slagle; stepmother, Toni Buffenbarger; nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Roger “Buff” and Janet Buffenbarger; sister, Pamela Slagle; and grandparents, Clyde and Mabel Buffenbarger, and Nina and Clayton Andrews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, with visitation starting at 1:30 pm.  In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the family to help with funeral expenses.
