Scottville commission expected to hire new manager today.

SCOTTVILLE — City commission is expected to take action on the next city manager’s contract when it meets today during its regular semi-monthly meeting. During a special meeting in May, the commission offered the job to Courtney Magaluk of Shelby, pending contract negotiations.

Magaluk currently is a senior project manager for the City of Grand Rapids. She is a graduate of Shelby High School and attended West  Shore Community College. She earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Michigan State University with a major in environmental studies and applications and a master’s degree from Clemson University with a major in city and regional planning. She has spent much of her career in South Caroline and Florida.

Magaluk’s base salary will be $60,000, which will be up for review on a yearly basis. She will also be provided with a $150 per month vehicle allowance and be reimbursed millage for business outside of the city. The city will contribute 6% of her gross salary towards the city’s retirement plan and will cover dues and subscriptions to professional organizations. Paid time off will be in compliance with the city’s personnel policies.

Magaluk will replace Amy Williams who served as city manager for 21 years and resigned in April. Since that time, Steve Brock has served as interim city manager. Brock was city manager of the City of Farmington Hills for over 20 years and moved to Ludington following his retirement. Brock also served as the interim manager for the City of Ludington in 2018 following the resignation of John Shay.

The commission meets at 5:30 p.m. at city hall, 105 N. Main St.
