Jury questionnaires must be returned by June 10.

LUDINGTON — The annual questionnaires for jury pool selection are now being mailed by the Mason County Jury Commission. Susan K. Sniegowski, 51st Circuit Court judge,  has determined that 4,500 questionnaires need to be processed to meet the court’s estimated juror requirements for September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2020.

There are 22,871 Mason  County residents who have a driver’s license or identificaiton card issued by the Michigan Secretary of State’s office and names are randomly chosen from this list by a computer generated formula.  If you receive a form, it must be returned to the Mason County Clerk’s office by June 10. If you are eligible to serve,, this puts you in the jury pool but does not necessarily mean you will be called.  However, failure to return the form could result in further proceedings for contempt of court.

There is a handicap-accessible entrance to the Mason County Courtouse on the ground floor on  the east side of the building. Amplifying equipment is available in the courtroom for those who are hearing impaired.  There are instructions included with the form as well as telephone numbers to call if you have questions.
