One Scottville manager candidate drops out.

SCOTTVILLE — City manager candidate James Van Ess has withdrawn his application due to personal reasons, according to Interim City Manager Steve Brock. Van Ess is the supervisor/zoning administrator for Tallmadge Charter Township in Ottawa County. Brock said a family emergency has caused Van Ess to make the decision.

The city commission is still scheduled to interview two candidates during a public meeting on Wednesday, May 29 beginning at 1 p.m. at city hall, 105 N. Main St. See related story. The commission did select an alternate, however took action not to invite that candidate for an interview unless the other candidates did not work out. The alternate lives out of state.
