Obituary: Marie Schrader, 82, Ludington.

Marie Lillian Schrader, 82, of Ludington, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Oakview Medical Care Facility.

Marie was born on June 29, 1936 in Ludington, the daughter of Fred and Lillian (Paulsen) Hackert. She graduated from Ludington High School in 1955 and married Lewis Schrader on June 2, 1956. Marie was an associate and manager at Fort Daul and Sandpiper gift shops for several years until her retirement.

Marie and “Lewie” loved to travel. They spent their winters in Florida and went on many cruises. Marie enjoyed spending time in her garden and stopping by the casino to try her hand at the slot machines. She and Lewie could often be found hunting for treasures at flea markets and garage sales, and they sold their collectibles at antique shops. Marie loved to laugh and had a gregarious, joyful presence wherever she went.

Marie is survived by her children, Gregory (MaryAnne) Schrader, Annette (Jerry) Alexander, and Todd (Julie) Schrader; grandchildren, JooHi (Brandon) Castelvetere, JoAnna Schrader, Kristina Schrader, Victoria Schrader, Gregory Schrader, Jessica (Tim) Evans, Michael Iteen, LeAnn (Jack) Bice, Emily (Michael) Robinson, and Ryan Schrader; six great grandchildren; brothers, Erv Hackert, Roy (Sue) Hackert, and Fred (Colleen) Hackert; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Schrader, in 2001; parents, Fred and Lillian Hackert; and brothers, Lorin and Steve Hackert.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, with visitation starting at 10 a.m.  Visitation will also be held on Friday, May 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Community Foundation for Mason County or the Alzheimer’s Association.
