LUDINGTON – A 39-year-old Baldwin woman pleaded guilty to first-degree retail fraud Tuesday, April 23, in 51st Circuit Court for “under ringing” merchandise in the self check-out lane at Walmart in Pere Marquette Township last month.

Leronda Marie Garcia-Manley, of 6852 Ester Ave., was arrested March 11 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for the felony offense.

“I took a cheaper item and kept ringing it up for the more expensive items at the self check-out,” Garcia-Manely said. The difference in price was more than $1,000, she told Judge Susan K. Sniegowski.

Garcia-Manley faces serving 90 days up front of a one-year discretionary jail term.

Sentencing is set for June 4 at 1:30 p.m.
