Danny Miller

Obituary: Danny Miller, 63, Fountain.

The earth lost an Angel and Heaven gained one when Danny Allen Miller went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2019.  He was born on September 11, 1955 in Louisville, Ill., the son of Robert and Lucille (Smith) Miller, and just 12 minutes from his cousin Lynn Patton.  Nobody living remembers who was born first, and the two grew up like twins.

Following his graduation from high school, Danny joined the United States Air Force near the end of the Vietnam Conflict.  Due to the conflict ending, the Air Force asked for volunteers to discharge early, which Danny accepted.  Having never served overseas or for the length of his enlistment, he was never eligible for veteran status even though he had made the decision to serve his country.

Danny worked several years for Stokely, USA in Scottville and Hart, first as a seasonal employee before moving to full time status in 1988 until the company closed in 2001.  He met Connie Fenner while working together at Stokely’s and they married on June 11, 1988 at St. Mary’s Church in Custer.  After Stokely’s closed, Danny worked in ice cream manufacturing where he met several fellow truck drivers who he remained friends with till the end, including, Jack Freeman, Barry Dunklow, and Mike Brandt, all of whom he thought the world of and was honored to call his friends.

Danny medically retired early due to heart issues.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother David Johnson.  He will be greatly missed by the love of his life Connie of Fountain; his sisters Elsie “Teet” (Leonard) Goff of Carter, Ill., Faye Fancher of Xenia, Ill.,  Sherry (Harmon) Lee of Edgewood, Ill., and Marlene (Ken) Etchison of Rice Lake, Wis.; his older brother LeRoy Fortier of Manistee; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Jerry and Kathy Fenner of Fountain; his brothers-in-law and sisters -in-law Mary and Gerry Lee of Chesapeake, Va., Jerome and Liz Fenner of Fountain, Susan and Scott Kuhn of Albion, Ind., William and Doreen Fenner of Fountain, Tamatha and Richard LeClair of Scottville, Elizabeth Fenner and Tom Hibbard of Muskegon; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was also very proud of his godsons, Ricky LeClair of Scottville, and Brandon (Beth) LeClair of Walhalla.  He will also be missed by his fur babies Kermie, Buddy, and Baby.

A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer with the Rev. Dan DePew officiating.  Friends may meet with Connie and their family on Friday morning from 10:00 am until time of services, and a luncheon will be held immediately following the service in the Parish Center.  Those who wish to remember Danny with a donation are asked to contribute to Connie to assist with medical and funeral expenses.
