Fountain man accused of sexually assaulting child.

LUDINGTON – A 38-year-old Fountain man faces two felonies in connection to the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl, according to Mason County Undersheriff Derrek Wilson.

Travis J. Shirey, of 201 Fourth St., was arrested by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Feb. 21, and charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) and accosting a child for immoral purposes. He has been arraigned in Mason County’s 79th District Court, and a preliminary exam is set for March 13 at 11:15 a.m.

Shirey faces up to 15 years in prison for the first count and four years for the second count.

The alleged assault occurred in September of 2018 in Sherman Township, said Wilson.

Shirey is lodged in the Mason County Jail on a $35,000 cash bond.
