218 participate in MathCounts Competition.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The 36th annual MathCounts Competition was held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at West Shore Community College. The event was hosted by the West Shore Educational Service District and Manistee Intermediate School District and included 218 students participating from Mason, Oceana, and Manistee counties.

The top three placing teams were: Ludington Area Schools OJ DeJonge Middle School, first; Manistee Area Public Schools, second; Mason County Central Middle School, third. Top three individual winners were: Jack O’Donnel, Manistee, first; Devon Flanery, Ludington, second (tie); Abigail Pretty, Hart, second (tie); Jacob Sharp, Manistee, third (tie); Nolan Gerych, Ludington, third (tie); Kellen Kimes, Mason Co. Central, third (tie). The top three countdown round winners were: Jacob Scharp, Manistee, first; Jack O’Donnel, Manistee, second; Nolan Gerych, Ludington, third (tie); Chase Gowell, Oceana Christian School, third (tie).

 

West Shore Community College continues to donate scholarships to every student who participates in the event.
