Joseph Thibert

Obituary: Joseph Thibert, 73, Ludington.

Joseph David Thibert, 73, of Ludington, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019.

Joseph was born on October 18, 1945 in Ludington, the son of Joseph and Anna (Paulsen) Thibert.  He graduated from Ludington High in 1963 then he served his country in the United States Air Force. On September 20, 1969 he married Starr Jabrocki.  Joseph was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served on several boards. His career was spent at the Ludington Post Office where he met many people with a smiling face and a joke for 33 years.  After his retirement, his dislike for cleaning and his drive to be around people drew him to a job as a greeter at Walmart. Here he could spend the day talking to anyone that came in, and avoid the cleaning duties his wife had for him at home. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, in later years his hobbies included, playing cards at the senior center, and boisterously watching sports on TV.

Joseph was a supportive father, he always pushed his daughters to be the best that they could be. He also loved his role as a grandfather. He attended numerous school activities over the years and never passed up an opportunity to brag about the accomplishments of his daughters and grandchildren.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Anna Thibert; his sister Catherine (Loyd) Durham; and his daughter Nicole Seward. Joseph is survived by his wife, Starr Ann Thibert; daughter, Holli (Brad) Gregory; grandchildren, Derrick Thibert, Tristan McJimsey and Sydney McJimsey; brother, John (Loa) Thibert; brother-in-law, Mike (Veronica) Jabrocki; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Hospice of Mason County.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m.
