VICTORY TOWNSHIP — High school career technology education students competed Friday at the Region 6 Health Occupations Students of America competition at West Shore Community College. The event was hosted by West Shore Educational Service District’s CTE program.
Allied health instructor, and event coordinator, Sally Wright said six career tech programs participated, which represented 25 to 30 high schools from Holland to Petoskey.
“There is a wide range of topics, something for everybody,” Wright said. Most of the events are judged by professionals while some competitions require written tests. “It’s an opportunity for the students to think on their feet when they are given a scenario and a limited amount of time,” Wright said.
First through third place teams and individuals will advance to a state competition in the spring.
