Donkey basketball game to raise money for MCE Athletic Boosters.

CUSTER — The Mason County Eastern Equestrian Team is hosting a donkey basketball game on Saturday, January 12 at 6 p.m. in the MCE main gym at Mason County Eastern Schools

Donkey basketball has been around since the Great Depression. Players ride real donkeys and play basketball. The game will include alumni, faculty and students. Danny V will be the evening’s announcer.

Proceeds will be given to the MCE Athletic Booster organization, which pays for the junior and senior high equestrian teams to compete in Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association.  MCE is one of 20 teams in District 9 for the MIHA competition.  Within District 9 Mason County Eastern and Grand Haven Schools are the only two schools that pay the full amount for the competition.  In the other schools kids/parents must pay the fees or fundraise in order to compete.

Cost is $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
