LUDINGTON – The following were sentenced recently in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

– Todd Allen Smith, 46, of 2088 Joyce St., Mears, was found guilty Nov. 20 of stalking and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; no contact with the victim; no alcohol/drugs; and $995 in fines and costs. One count of malicious use of telecommunications was dismissed.

– Michael John Posma, 28, of 105 W. First St., Scottville, was found guilty Nov. 26 of open intoxicants and was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for three days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random preliminary breath tests (PBTs); and $265 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

– Joseph Jeremiah Marek, 22, of 2585 N. Stiles Rd., Victory Township, was found guilty Nov. 20 of operating while impaired and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend the next session of the Victims’ Impact Panel (VIP); no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs; and $895 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Erica Kareen Mendez, 36, of 602 Fifth St., Ludington, was found guilty Nov. 20 of disorderly person – disturbing the peace and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; outpatient treatment; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; may perform 15 hours of community service within six months or pay $285 in fines and costs; and subject to random PBTs and drug tests.

– Brooks Aaron Johnson, 36, of 709 W. Ludington Ave., Ludington, was found guilty Nov. 20 of disorderly person – jostling and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; must not enter the Sand Bar; and $285 in fines and costs. One count of assault and battery was dismissed.

– Thomas John Prins, 55, of 7900 Myers Lake Ave., Rockford, was found guilty Nov. 20 of operating while impaired and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; AHSE; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend the next session of VIP; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs; and $895 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Terry David Brady, 37, of 4354 Henry St., Muskegon, was found guilty Nov. 27 of no name and address on tree stand and was sentenced to $185 in fines and costs.

– Bruce Jonas Sanders, 68, of 965 S. Gordon Rd., Amber Township, was found guilty Nov. 26 of excessive bait – over the limit and was sentenced to $185 in fines and costs.

Dismissal

– William Geoffrey Buchanan, 29, of 6597 W. Sassafras St., Hamlin Township, one count of marijuana possession was dismissed Nov. 14. “The ends of justice no longer require prosecution,” his court file states.
