Marge Lund

Obituary: Marjorie Lund, 84, Ludington.

Marjorie A. Lund, 84, of Ludington passed away peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, November 17, 2018. She was born September 18, 1934 in Ludington to Frederick and Marjorie (Parker) Schroeder.

Marge graduated from Ludington High School in 1952. On June 19, 1954, she married Nels N. Lund at the Community Church in Ludington. Together they raised four children.

Marge worked as a receptionist for Dr. W.R. Kolb Jr. for over 20 years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #87, the National Secretary Association, and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Marge played in a pinochle club for many years and enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble (She usually won), many years of family camping trips, Holiday get togethers, traveling and loved all family time.

Marge enjoyed fishing with Nels, and they took many trips to White Lake, Canada to fish in the summer, and spent many winters on St. George Island, fishing, watching the dolphins and enjoying the beach. Family traditions were important to her. Mother’s Day was spent camping and morel mushrooming with the family. In the fall, making applesauce from the apples on the farm was always a fun time. Jokes were made that Grandma only had to stir the applesauce with her finger to make it sweet, along with a few pounds of sugar. Marge loved to sing and dance, and had such a great sense of humor, which carried on even after her voice had failed her, with that smirk or look in her eyes.

Marge will be greatly missed by her children, Dave (Ann) Lund, Wendy (Gary) Kosch, Dan Lund, and Lisa (Doug) Sarto; her grandchildren, Glover, Stacey, Garrett, Eric, Bryan, Nicholas, and Mackenzie; her sisters-in-law, Elsie Schroeder and Florence Cabot; her brother-in-law Jack Lund and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marge was preceded in death by husband Nels in 2017; her brother Fred Schroeder; and sisters, Jeanne Potter, Arlene Howe, and Marilyn Jackson.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is being planned for early June at her home.

Memorial contributions in Marge’s name may be directed to the American Legion, 318 N. James St., Ludington MI 49431.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home, www.oakgroveludington.com.
