Obituary: James Brand, 75, Ludington.

James Gerald Brand, age 75, of Ludington passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 after an automobile accident. He was born May 6, 1943 in Homer, Michigan. After high school, James enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly served his county from 1961 to 1966. James worked in the state correctional system for 29 years. He worked as a transporter for the Jackson Prison and retired from the Ionia prison. In his spare time, James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He also enjoyed playing cards and cribbage and puttering around the house.

James will be greatly missed by his wife of almost 24 years, Phyllis Brand of Ludington; his children, Gerald Brand, Michelle Maes, and Debbie Moore; his seven grandchildren; his five stepchildren, Randy, Tammy, Dan, Jon, and Dave; his nine step children; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters; brothers; and very close friend, Kevin Lawton.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

According to his wishes, James will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with full military honors.
