Ludington man arrested in connection to fire at high school.

LUDINGTON — Ludington Police Department arrested a 17-year-old man in relation to a restroom fire that occurred at the school on Monday, Oct. 1. Rayawn Daivan Robertson of 506 E. Melendy St., was arraigned in 79th District Court on Wednesday, Oct. 3, and charged with arson third degree.

Robertson was arrested after police and school officials reviewed video footage. Police stated that Robertson admitted that he had been setting toilet paper on fire and putting it out in the toilet, but then he accidentally set a dispenser on fire. 

Third degree arson is a felony, punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment, a $20,000 fine and/or up to three times the value of the destroyed property. Damage was estimated about $2,000.

Bond was set at $5,000, 10%. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Oct. 17 in district court.
