Intentional fire at LHS being investigated.

LUDINGTON — Ludington Area School District has reported that an intentional fire was set Monday, Oct. 1, at the end of the school day, in one of the men’s restrooms at Ludington High School.

“The fire was immediately extinguished, limiting damage to a toilet paper dispenser and the partition stall,” Superintendent Jason Kennedy wrote in a letter to parents. “In addition, ServPro was brought in this evening to thoroughly clean the restroom, and to remove soot and the smell of smoke from the restroom.

“The District is working to complete its investigation of the incident, in cooperation with local police and fire officials, and takes events such as these very seriously. Please know that the District will not tolerate this type of illegal behavior, and that it reserves the right to prosecute criminal acts such as these to the fullest extent of the law.

“Please know that the District takes the safety, security, and well-being of our students very seriously, and this message serves as a communication with our families so that you are aware of this issue. Kennedy said the school is working with Ludington Police Department and Ludington Fire Department.
