Local 4-H member wins award at State Fair.

LANSING — A local 4-H club member was recently chosen as one of five winners of the Great Neighbor Community Service Award at the Michigan State Fair on Saturday, Sept. 2. Kendra Lewis’ essay was chosen as the top five out of 1,000 entries from 4-H and FFA members.
Kendra is a long time member of Circle Rocking S Children’s Farm 4H club, which includes members with special needs. Her disability did not stop her from all her volunteer work in serving others by helping at the children’s farm, located in Sherman Township,  and her community.  It was a great honor to be chosen among all the other entries, said club leader Nancy Supran.
“Everyone at the farm and her family are extremely proud of Kendra and all her outstanding work she does,” Supran said. Kendra received a plaque, a $50 gift card, and a backpack full of items from Tractor Supply.
“Winning at the state level, at the State Fair, on stage with the other four winners was amazing, but her favorite experience at the fair were the rides,” Supran said.
The children’s farm will hold a Blessing of the Animals and pet show on Sunday, Sept. 16. at 5487 N. Tuttle Road.
