Man sentenced to one year jail for failing to register as sex offender.

LUDINGTON — A 51-year-old man will spend a year in jail after pleading guilty to failing to register as a sex offender. Raymond Harold Snay, no address listed, was arrested by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. He was initially charged as a repeat offender, with offenses including operating a vehicle while intoxicated, criminal sexual conduct third degree and CSC second degree, in which he served prison time.

Earlier this summer, Snay rejected the plea agreement from the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney’s office of serving one year in the Mason County Jail and had chosen to go to trial. He later chose to accept the plea and was sentenced today, Sept. 4, in 51st Circuit Court.

Snay will be allowed to suspend his jail sentence until Nov. 1, allowing him time to save money to help cover his housing expenses. Judge Susan Sniegowski also allowed Snay to have work release while serving. He will be placed on two years probation after he is released from jail.
