LUDINGTON — Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a series of crimes that took place early Tuesday morning in Amber and Pere Marquette townships and the City of Ludington.

At 4:48 a.m., deputies were called to a reported breaking and entering in the 1200 block of North Victory Corner Road in Amber Township. The home owner had reported that someone had broken into a garage, according to Sheriff Kim Cole.

At 6:56 a.m., while deputies were still investigating the Victory Corner Road break-in, they were dispatched to the 5800 block of Pleasant Ridge Road in Pere Marquette Township for a report of a suspicious vehicle, a side-by-side UTV, parked in the road. Deputies discovered the UTV had been stolen out of the City of Ludington and had recovered items — liquor containers — that had been stolen from the Victory Corner Road scene.

Also during this time, a resident approached deputies and reported that his 2004 red Chevrolet Silverado HD2500 pickup had been stolen from his driveway sometime overnight. A deputy recalled that while investigating the Victory Corner Road scene, he had noticed a vehicle matching that description drive past the scene several times. The vehicle fled the scene and the deputy pursued. The vehicle eventually got away. The pickup registration is Michigan DC33015.

Deputies continue to investigate.
