West Shore Pride Fest will be held June 10.

LUDINGTON — The West Shore Pride Fest will be held on Sunday, June 10 from noon to 5 p.m. at Rotary Park. The LGBT event will include local speakers, musicians, and performers including the Stage Left improv group, band Marsupial Mammals, and comedian Arielle Schnur, who was most recently featured at Girls Rock in April.

The speakers will share messages of hope, inclusion, acceptance, and celebration.

Last year’s event, called the Equality Rally, drew over 250 people to stand up against bullying and honor those who had lost their lives in the Pulse nightclub shooting.  Because of the large response, the organizers created the 501(c)3 non-profit West Shore Pride.

The purpose of West Shore Pride is to build community, visibility, and equality for LGBT individuals.  Since it began, the group has held several community-building events, worked closely with other local groups such as PFLAG Manistee, and provided cultural competency training and panel discussions to help educate others.
