Motorcyclist involved in Friday crash identified.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a single vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred Friday, May 18 at the intersection of King and Oakwood drives. Myles Austin, 23, of Pere Marquette Township man was injured after he apparently lost control of the Honda CRF motorcycle he was driving as he attempted to go through the westbound curve.

According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, speed and alcohol were likely factors in causing the crash.

The intersection is on the Mason County Airport property line.

Austin was wearing a helmet, Cole said, and was unconscious when first responders arrived on scene. He was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Sheriff’s office crash investigators were called to the scene.

Responding to the crash were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation.
