Flock the Forest run will be major fundraiser for LHS Sports Boosters.

LUDINGTON — The Ludington High School Sports Boosters will hold the inaugural Flock the Forest 5K trail run and 1 mile fun run on Saturday, May 12. The race will start and end at Ludington High School. Participants can choose to compete in a 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) trail race that winds through the LHS school forest or they can be in the 1 mile fun run course that includes the perimeter of the school block.

The major fundraising event replaces the golf tournament that traditionally was held in May. Booster club member Scott Smith said this event will take less strain on volunteers’ time and will also provide a family friendly environment. Students were unable to participate in the golf tournament because of it involved alcohol.

The races will be timed and medals will be awarded to 10 age divisions for the 5K race. The top three fun run finishers will also earn a medal. Registration and check in will be at the high school from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. Race start time is 9 a.m. Cash or checks will be collected at registration time. Checks can be made out to LHS Sports Boosters.
