VanSickle promoted to sheriff’s chief deputy of corrections.

LUDINGTON — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office has announced the promotion of Sgt. Kenny VanSickle to chief deputy of the corrections division.  Chief Deputy VanSickle will assume his new role effective April 30, 2018.

Chief Deputy VanSickle is a 1997 graduate of Mason County Eastern High School.  He was hired as a corrections deputy on August 30, 2006 and promoted to rank of Sergeant on July 01, 2014.

“I would like to thank the five deputies from within the corrections division who submitted letters of interest in the chief deputy position,” Sheriff Kim Cole said. “Promotional exams and interviews are the most difficult for me because only one can be chosen while all are capable.  All were very qualified and I’m grateful and blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing group of men and women. In the end, Kenny possesses the leadership skills, respect, and drive to continue a move in a positive direction for the corrections staff.”

The chief deputy of corrections division is a newly created position, approved by the Mason County Board of Commissioners. The position existed several years ago but was eliminated by the previous sheriff.
