Custer Road Bridge over Pere Marquette River

Custer Road closure.

CUSTER TOWNSHIP — Custer Road Bridge over the Pere Marquette River will be closed, beginning Monday, April 23, for construction. Seasonal weight restrictions have delayed the start of the project which will include removal of the existing 165-feet long by 24-feet wide three-span steel I-beam bridge deck that was constructed in 1953; replacement will include a 33-feet wide (30-feet clear width) deck using galvanized steel I-beams and a 9-inch concrete deck with two-tube railing.

The $852,000 project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration, Michigan Department of Transportation, and the Mason County Road Commission.

Traffic will be detoured by the contractor, Milbocker and Sons, Inc. of Allegan and will include Custer Road, US 10, Scottville Road and Chauvez Road.
