AAUW commemorates Equal Pay Day.

MANISTEE — Members of the American Association of University Women, Ludington Chapter, commemorated Equal Pay Day 2018 on Monday during their regular meeting.

Equal Pay Day is held each year in April to highlight the gap between men’s and women’s wages. While average American women earn 80% of men’s wages, in Michigan women earn even less, 78% of men’s wages.  

AAUW members said they encourage local residents to recognize the current status of unfair earnings between men and women for equivalent work and to promote equal pay for all women. The Ludington chapter of AAUW meets each month and welcomes new members.
