Mesick man arrested for refusing to pay cab fare.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 40-year-old Mesick man was arrested early Sunday morning on the charges of defrauding a taxi driver and resisting and opposing a police officer. Deputies from Mason County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 5300 block of West US 10 at 12:39 a.m. The man allegedly refused to pay a $7.50 cab fare and then attempted to fight with deputies when they approached him regarding the fare, according to Sheriff Kim Cole.

• 3 p.m., MCSO, a 54-year-old Fountain woman was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant out of Muskegon County charging organized retail fraud after a deputy made contact with her during a sex offender registration check on another individual in the 7000 block of East Oak Ridge Road, Sheridan Township.
• 4:50 p.m., MCSO, a 29-year-old Ludington man was arrested on two warrants — felony assault by strangulation, and failure to appear in court — out of Muskegon County, 5600 block of West Johnson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
• 9:15 p.m., MCSO, car/deer crash, no injuries, Pere Marquette Highway north of Lattin Road, Summit Township.

• 7:30 p.m., MCSO, a 37-year-old Ludington man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, first arrest, following a traffic stop on Rasmussen Road east of Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
