Obituary: Dennis Hansen, 78, Ludington.

Dennis James Hansen, 78, of Ludington passed away on March 19, 2018 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.  Dennis was born on September 10, 1939, the son of James and Alice (Semple) Hansen. He attended Ludington High School and graduated with the class of 1957.  Dennis proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 – 1960. He married Judith Carol Johnson on May 12, 1962 and they celebrated 53 wonderful years together.  

He was employed by Dow Chemical and retired in 1995.  He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ludington.  Dennis loved spending his time hunting and fishing, especially in the mountains of Wyoming.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and most especially spending time with his beloved granddaughter Lauren Mae.  The two of them were inseparable as she was the light of his life.

Dennis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Amy and Jason Williams of Scottville; granddaughter Lauren Mae, exchange granddaughter Natakanya (Phare); brothers, Jim (Kathy) Hansen, Doug (Sue) Hansen; sisters, Sherry Johnson, Sandy (Doug) Rogers; brother-in-law Roger (Pat) Johnson and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.  

He was preceded in death by his beloved Judy (the Swede), his parents, sister Dorothy Rose, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dolores and Elwood VanderVeer.  

Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place in June.  A Celebration of Life for both Dennis and Judy will take place for all their family and friends on June 9, more information will be available at a later date.
