Hospital to offer tobacco cessation class. 

LUDINGTON — Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital will hold a tobacco cessation class on Wednesday, March 14 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Conference Room, located on the second floor of Medical Office Building 1, 1 Atkinson Dr.

Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. Cigarette smoke can harm nearly every organ and organ system in the body.

The free class, taught by registered nurse Kelly Barnhardt, a tobacco treatment specialist, will provide:

  • Information packet and tool kit.
  • Information about the consequences of tobacco use.
  • Strategies for coping with withdrawal symptoms.
  • How to identify triggers.
  • Barriers to success.
  • Information on pharmacotherapy.
  • Scheduling of private consultation.

Snacks and light refreshments will be provided.
