BRANCH TOWNSHIP — Deputies and detectives from Mason County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an apparent suicide that occurred near the Department of Natural Resources boat launch along the Pere Marquette River on the west side of Walhalla Road Monday afternoon. Emergency personnel were called to the scene about 5:45 p.m. after a passerby discovered the body of the 51-year-old Fountain man, according to Acting Sgt. John Balowski. Balowski said the man died of a gun-shot wound and investigators have ruled out foul play; his immediate family has been notified.
Also responding to the scene were Branch Township Fire Department and Life EMS.
