LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court:

– Syerra Mae Wendt, 31, of 400 W. Third St., Scottville, was found guilty Jan. 23 of second-offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) and was sentenced to serve 66 days in jail with credit for six days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; outpatient treatment; $1,570 in fines and costs; must report to jail for 30 days within five months unless she attends Impact Weekend and follows recommendations; must attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) twice a week for two years; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random preliminary breath tests (PBTs). Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of disorderly person – public intoxication was dismissed.

– Stephen Blane Hill, 59, of 8772 E. Kinney Rd., Branch Township, was found guilty Jan. 25 of taking an illegal deer and was sentenced to $2,295 in fines and costs and no hunting privileges until Jan. 1, 2021.

 

– Rodney Duane Long, 49, of 24468 W. US 10, Ludington, pleaded “no contest” Jan. 29 to disorderly – trespassing and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with credit for four days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; AA and substance abuse counseling while incarcerated; and no alcohol/drugs.

– Charles Martin Kraus, 47, of 1214 N. Washington Ave., Ludington, pleaded “no contest” Jan. 23 to aggravated assault/domestic assault and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for for two days served; one year discretionary jail for one year; must have combined domestic violence/substance abuse evaluation and follow recommendations; no contact with the victim; no alcohol/drugs; and $955 in fines and costs. One count of domestic violence dismissed.

– Shawn Donald Pitre, 33, of 7019 E. Stohlberg, Sheridan Township, was found guilty Jan. 29 of driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; and $285 and in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Erik DeShawn Latimer, 30, of 915 E. Maple St., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 23 of marijuana possession and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; driver’s license suspended 60 days/restricted 305 days; one year discretionary jail for one year; no alcohol/drugs; and $535 in fines and costs.

– Joshua Russell Nicewander, 31, of 6978 N. US 31, Free Soil Township, was found guilty Jan. 23 of OWI and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; outpatient treatment; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend next session of the Victims’ Impact Panel (VIP); no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs; and $1,095 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Dakota Wayne Moody, 20, of 605 E. Loom is St., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 25 of improper plates and was sentenced to $175 in fines and costs. He as also found guilty of expired registration and was sentenced to $80 in fines and costs.

– Christian Lee Mitchell, 27, of 606 E. Danaher St., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 22 of DWLS and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year and $285 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Zachary Lee Clark, 23, of 11118 N. Budde Rd., Free Soil Township, was found guilty Jan. 25 of failure to report an accident and was sentenced to $325 in fines and costs.

– Thomas Tommy-Teague Noa, 34, of 107 N. Staffon St., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 23 of disorderly person – disturbing the peace and was sentenced to outpatient treatment; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no alcohol/drugs; must attend AA twice a week for one year; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; and $295 in fines and costs. One count of third-degree retail fraud was dismissed.

– David Stanley Smith, 60, of 3002 S. Corral Creek Trail, Custer Township, was found guilty Jan. 25 of taking a deer without a license and was sentenced to $1,250 in fines and costs and cannot purchase a hunting license until Jan. 2, 2021.

– Ann Joleen Allen, 24, of 15876 Mercury Dr., Grand Haven, was found guilty Jan. 25 of fishing with tip-up – no name/address affixed and was sentenced to $275 in fines and costs.

– Jeremy John Kanouse, 33, of 1700 Robbins Rd., Grand Haven, was found guilty Jan. 25 of fishing with tip-up – no name/address affixed and was sentenced to $275 in fines and costs.

– Peter Louis Nash, 30, of 555 Gidley Ave., Grand Haven, was found guilty Jan. 25 of fishing with too many lines and was sentenced to $275 in fines and costs.

– Jeremy Alan McCormick, 46, of 4035 E. Wealthy St., Fountain, was found guilty Jan. 29 of taking a deer without a license and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; $2,250 in fines and costs; and not able to apply for hunting license until Jan. 1, 2019. Must pay $250 biweekly.

Dismissals

– Justin Michael Stever, 27, of 802 N. Rowe St., Ludington, one count of operating without insurance was dismissed Jan. 24 when he pleaded to a lesser charge.

– Scott William Traeger, 41, of 5724 Custer Rd., Custer Township, one count of domestic violence was dismissed Jan. 22 “per prosecutor’s deferment agreement,” his court file states.
