ESD to begin search for new superintendent.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — The West Shore Educational Service District (WSESD)) has begun the process to hire a new superintendent. Randy Howes, current superintendent, announced his retirement effective June 30, 2018.  He has served as superintendent for five years.

The Board of Education has contracted with Michigan Leadership Institute to help guide the board through the process.  Dave Killips, regional president, will serve as the consultant.

On Tuesday, January 9, the Board of Education will establish the timelines for the process, with the hope of having the new superintendent begin on July 1.  The community will be given an opportunity to provide input on selection criteria via the WSESD website beginning on Friday, January 5 through Monday, January 15 at 4 p.m.  The website address is:  wsesd.org.  The link is located on the first screen. The board is requesting input on the following three questions:

-What talents, qualities and skills does the next superintendent need to possess?

– What are the challenges facing the WSESD and the community it serves?

-What are the Points of Pride for the WSESD?

The survey responses will remain anonymous, but the overall results will be shared with the Board to assist with the process.

As additional information is developed it will be shared through the website.

The WSESD Board of Education appreciates the input as the Board makes the important decision as who will serve the area as its next educational leader.
