Obituary: Denise Stewart, 61, Pentwater. 

Denise Marie Stewart, 61, of Pentwater, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at home. She was born in Hart on September 3, 1956 to William and Darlene (McKenzie) Askins. Denise graduated from Hart High School in the Class of 1974 and went on to college at Muskegon Community College, Baker College and Grand Valley State University obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree.

She married Thomas Stewart in Pentwater on July 25, 1981. Denise had been a waitress, the manager at the Comfort Inn and employed as a clerk at Larson and Son Ace Hardware.

Denise loved her children and grandchildren and attending their many events. She enjoyed the water, the beaches and sunbathing on Sunset Beach. While at the beach, she would often look for shells and rocks to collect. She also enjoyed music concerts, casino trips, card playing, especially pinochle, and playing board games with her grandchildren. Music being one of her passions, Denise played with the Pentwater Civic Band and the West Shore Community College Symphony Orchestra. She was also a member and had been a past president of the Hart Lions Club.

Denise is survived by her husband Tom Stewart of Pentwater; three daughters, Melissa (Wayne) Wagner of Ludington, Theresa (Tyler Eagan) Stewart of Hart, Samantha Stewart of Yale; four grandchildren, Cameron Wagner, Anna Wagner, Thomas Wagner, Julia Wagner; two sisters, Pam (Mark) Fulton of Wyoming, Mich., Cheryl (Wendell) Fuller of Ormand Beach, Fla. She is also survived by her parents, William and Darlene Askins of Hart.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Askins; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Vivian Stewart.

The memorial service for Denise will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, the King-Hart Chapel with Pastor Dan Barnum-Steggerda officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pentwater Civic Band or the West Shore Community College Symphony Orchestra.
