Scottville considering change of polling location.

SCOTTVILLE — As the Scottville Optimist Club continues to consider the future of its building, the city commission will consider moving the city’s polling location to the Scottville Area Senior Center, 140 S. Main St. Earlier this week, the Optimist Club held a community meeting to discuss the future of its building, which has become too expense for the club to maintain (see related story).
“It is very likely that the Optimist Center will no longer be available to use as a polling location,” City Manager Amy Williams said. “We are required to have a building that is handicap accessible and we also have to have adequate time for the state to approve the location.”
Williams said Deputy Clerk Debbie Howe has been working with Marcia Visscher, director of the senior center, on the details. The city commission will be asked at its regular meeting Monday to approve a resolution to change the locations. Once the resolution is passed and the state approves the change, all registered voters in the city will receive new voter registration cards.
The city commission meets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6 at city hall, 105 N. Main St.
