Hospital warns of telephone scam, urges call recipients to call police.

LUDINGTON — Officials from Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital have reported that they have recently learned that several area residents have received spoofing/scam phone calls from parties who claim to be representatives of Spectrum Health seeking credit card information and other personal details.

Patricia Ezdebski, hospital spokeswoman, said if there is ever doubt about the legitimacy of providing personal or financial information over the phone to any Spectrum Health entity, first contact customer service at 1.844.879.6180.

The persons making these phone calls are in no way associated with Spectrum Health and are seeking personal financial information for unlawful reasons and their own personal gain, Ezdebski said. “Many of these callers are very sophisticated and have Spectrum Health or Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital as the caller ID, making it look like a legitimate phone call,” she said.

Anyone receiving one of these calls should contact 911.
