CUSTER — When the Mason County Eastern volleyball team takes on Mesick tonight, the team’s seniors will be honored at their last home game. The volleyball team has chosen to also honor a fellow student who died four years ago. Today, would have been Garrett Lake’s 15th birthday. Garrett, who was a student at MCE, died four years ago today when the vehicle he was riding in slide off of US 10 on black ice in Branch Township. Garrett’s sister, Mckenna is a senior on the volleyball team.
“Those girls have always had big hearts and they are the greatest friends to Mckenna,” said Jennifer Rasmussen, Garrett and Mckenna’s mother. “Truly I cannot say enough about how great that whole school, staff and kids have been for the last 4 years.”
The junior varsity game begins at 6 p.m.
