PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Two people were transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital following a single vehicle rollover crash on US 31 Monday morning. The crash occurred when a southbound Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck was southbound on US 31, about 1/2 mile south of the Chauvez Road overpass. Mason County Sheriff Sgt. Shayne Eskew said the vehicle apparently had been attempting to pass another vehicle, upon doing so, discovered another vehicle in the passing lane and then apparently over-corrected to get back into its original lane, causing the pickup to go into the median and rolling over.

The pickup was driven by a 60-year-old Mt. Pleasant man. He and his 59-year-old female passenger were treated by medical personnel from Pere Marquette Township Fire Department and Life EMS ambulance and then transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Eskew said.

Ludington Fire Department’s rescue unit was also dispatched but disregarded.
