PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on a crash that occurred Saturday about 1 p.m. in front of McDonald’s, 5389 W. US 10, just east of the Pere Marquette Highway intersection.

The crash involved a 60-year-old Chesapeake, Virginia woman, driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck, who was westbound on US 10 and attempting to make a left-hand turn into McDonald’s. Her vehicle struck head-on an eastbound Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck driven by a 58-year-old Ludington man, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Cole said both had serious injuries.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Ludington Police Department, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS.
