WSCC hosting events in observation of suicide prevention week.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Week, September 10 -16,  West Shore Community College’s Counseling Services will be hosting several events on the campus.

Throughout the week, an information table located in the Schoenherr Campus Center will have information regarding suicide prevention and counseling services available in the community.

Temporary “semicolon tattoos” will be drawn throughout the week in recognition of mental health issues and suicide prevention. A semicolon symbolizes the decision to continue your life, not end it.

A “stay” banner will also be on display in the Campus Center allowing students and members of the college community the opportunity to proclaim their reason for being alive and to “find out what you were made for.”

A gathering and candlelight vigil will be held on Thurs., Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Schoenherr Campus Center.  A professional facilitator will discuss suicide prevention, the aftermath of suicide, and share stories in honor those lost.  The night will end around sunset with a candlelight walk around campus.
