PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Dairy Council is debuting its new Dairy Booth this week during the Western Michigan Fair. The new booth replaces the former booth that has helped the council raise funds for the past 30-plus years, said Bill Stakenas. Bill and his son-in-law, Seth Earl, designed the booth and built it with many partners.

The new booth is made of metal and includes an air conditioner to help keep volunteers cool. To help keep customers cool, it is now not only selling white and chocolate milk but also ice cream cones. The ice cream machine was purchased by Mason County Farm Bureau.

“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” Bill said. “The old booth was starting to look shabby. This new booth is built into the trailer and we hope to bring it to more events.”

The booth will be officially dedicated at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 8 in front of the fairgrounds dairy barn.
