Driver in Sunday crash arrested; additional charges pending.

LUDINGTON — The driver involved in Sunday’s single vehicle crash on Chauvez Road has been arrested on multiple charges. Darrin Lloyd Deboer, 22, of Sparta, was arrested by Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a felony drug warrant (delivery of dangerous drugs), after he was released from Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Deputies are also requesting additional charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence and possession of marijuana.

The crash occurred about 8:45 a.m. Sunday, July 2 on Chauvez Road near Lister Road in Riverton Township when the westbound Ford Explorer Deboer was driving went off the north side of the roadway, then re-entered the road, traveling another approximate 200 yards, crossed the centerline, went into a ditch on the south side of the road, rolled crossed a driveway, struck a mailbox then landed on its tires in the middle of Chauvez Road.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Riverton Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS ambulance.
