Sheriff’s Office investigating Chauvez Rd crash.

RIVERTON TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single vehicle rollover crash that occurred about 8:45 a.m. Sunday, July 2. The driver involved in the crash, a 22-year-old Sparta man, was injured and transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by ambulance.

The crash occurred when the westbound Ford Explorer went off the north side of the roadway, likely hit the guardrail, then re-entered the road, traveling another approximate 200 yards, crossed the centerline, went into a ditch on the south side of the road, rolled crossed a driveway, struck a mailbox then landed on its tires in the middle of Chauvez Road.

Sheriff deputies on scene said alcohol is suspected as being a factor in the crash. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Riverton Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, and Life EMS ambulance.
