Weekend police activity includes crashes, lost hiker, assaults, drunk driving. 
Area law enforcement was kept busy over the weekend, responding to several vehicle crashes, a lost hiker, assaults, and drunk driving, among other incidents.
Friday, May 26, 2017:
  • 7:45 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), vehicle crash, no injuries, 500 block of North Washington Street, City of Ludington.
  • 8:52 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), fraud, 5000 block of Rasmussen Road, Pere Marquette Township. The victim reported that an unknown person took out a Comcast account in their name with a bill of over $900.
  • 8:59 a.m., (LPD), domestic assault, 700 block of Sherman Oaks Drive, City of Ludington.
  • 9:19 a.m., (Michigan State Police), larceny of a check, 2000 block of Tallman Lake Road, Village of Fountain. The case is under investigation.
  • 11:27 a.m., (MSP), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 10-31 and Amber Road, Amber Township.
  • 3:05 p.m., (MCSO), assault, 100 block of North Stiles Road, Amber Township. It’s alleged that a 43-year-old Ludington man in this case was seeking retribution for the assault with a pipe from the night before on his brother who was flown to a hospital.
  • 5:23 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, Pere Marquette Highway and US 31 off-ramp, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 5:35 p.m., (MCSO), a 56-year-old Ludington man was arrested for retrial fraud, Meijer, 3900 block of West US 10, Amber Township.
  • 6:58 p.m. (MCSO), gas drive-off, $35.03 stolen, Ludington EZ Mart, 5900 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 10 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, US 31 south of US 10, Amber Township.
Saturday, May 27, 2017:
  • 12:40 a.m., (MCSO), a 57-year-old Ludington man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, US 10 near the US 31 Freeway, Amber Township.
  • 2:25 a.m., (MSP), disorderly person, 2000 block of North Tallman Lake Road, Village of Fountain.
  • 11:02 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, US 31 north of the Pere Marquette Highway exit ramp, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 12:15 p.m., (MSP), car/deer crash, US 31 and Sugar Grove Road, Sherman Township.
  • 12:57 p.m., (MSP), breaking and entering and malicious destruction of a trailer, 5000 block of East Bennett Road, Meade Township.
  • 4:53 p.m., (LPD), malicious destruction of property (MDOP), 500 block of East Foster Street, City of Ludington.
  • 9:45 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Custer Road south of Free Soil Road, Free Soil Township.
  • 9:45 p.m., (LPD), liquor inspection, 200 block of East Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington.
  • 9:50 p.m., (MSP), car/deer crash, US 10 and Darr Road, Custer Township.
  • 9:54 p.m., (LPD), liquor inspection, 100 block of West Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington.
Sunday, May 28, 2017:
  • 5:54 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, US 31 north of Fountain, Victory Township.
  • 12:14 p.m., (MCSO), lost hiker, Manistee National Forest near Nurnberg Road, Grant Township. A hiker called 911 reporting she was lost along with two 6-year-old children. The Mason/Oceana 911 Center was able to track the lost hiker by her cell phone GPS coordinates, and she was located within an hour by MCSO deputies and MSP troopers.
  • 2:21 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Jebavy Drive north of Johnson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 2:55 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, with injuries, Decker and Rath roads, Hamlin Township. Three people received minor injuries after a vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign northbound on Rath Road and pulled into the path of a vehicle traveling westbound on Decker Road. The driver of the northbound vehicle was cited for failure to yield.
  • 8 p.m., (MSP), fugitive arrest, a 38-year-old Free Soil man was arrested, Free Soil and Campbell roads, Free Soil Township.
  • 9:25 p.m., (MSP), car/deer crash, Free Soil and Tuttle roads, Free Soil Township.
  • 10:47 p.m., (MCSO), disorderly person arrest, Vacation Station Campground, 4900 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township. A 21-year-old Kentwood man was arrested following repeated 911 calls reporting a loud intoxicated man who was refusing to stay on his own campsite and swearing at other campers and employees.
Monday, May 29, 2017:
  • 2:23 a.m., (MSP), a 21-year-old Scottville man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, Sixth Street and Industrial Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 11:03 a.m., (MCSO), a 40-year-old Fountain man was arrested for domestic assault, 2400 block of North 21st Street, Sheridan Township.
  • 12:30 p.m., (MSP), car/deer crash, US 31 and Hoague Road, Grant Township.
  • 12:58 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, Jebavy Drive near Johnson Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 1:05 p.m., (MSP), semi vs. car crash causing injuries, US 31 and Sugar Grove Road, Sherman Township.
  • 1:58 p.m., (MCSO), boat assist, Lake Michigan north of the Ludington Lighthouse. A boater reported being adrift with no power. An MCSO marine deputy located the 25-foot Searay and towed it back into the Ludington harbor.
  • 8:29 p.m., (LPD), disturbance, 400 block of South James Street, City of Ludington.
  • 10:47 p.m., (LPD), MDOP, 300 block of East Court Street, City of Ludington.
  • 10:50 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, US 10 and Schoenherr Road, Branch Township.
