LUDINGTON — A 44-year-old Pere Marquette Township man convicted of felonies of delivery of marijuana and possession with intent to deliver marijuana following a drug raid by narcotics officers last February was sentenced to one year in in jail in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, May 30.

Joshua Paul Barnaby, of 3073 S. Pere Marquette Highway, was arrested last February by the State, Sheriffs, Chiefs Enforcement Narcotics Team (SSCENT) after officers seized 223 marijuana plants, 21.25 pounds of marijuana and 79 grams of butane hash oil from his home, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.

Two counts of felony firearms were dismissed in a plea agreement.

The prosecutor described Barnaby as a “large-scale grower and manufacturer of marijuana” who also operated a butane hash oil lab of “substantial size and quality.”

Barnaby had “a very sophisticated grow operation here in our county,” said Judge Susan K. Sniegowski. However, he was “very cooperative with the police” at the time of his arrest.

His sentence also includes suspension of his driver’s license for one year, with a restricted license after 60 days.

He was also sentenced to two years probation and received credit for 105 days served in jail.
